One of the most visible deterents available, is the fitting of bars or collapsible grilles to vunerable windows and doors. The collapsible grilles have the advantage of being able to open when required, allowing a clear view through any window whilst the premises is occupied and then locked when required.

Another advantage is that doors and windows can be left open for ventilation but still be secure when the grille is locked shut.
